NATIONAL POLYSTYRENE HIVE

Polystyrene is the newest material for bee hives,  the polystyrene used is a much higher density than “packing polystyrene”, making it a lightweight and durable alternative to wood. Many beekeepers like the insulation properties of it, enabling smaller colonies to survive better. Queens are happy to lay right out to the side wall. Unlike a wooden National hive it only accommodates 10 National frames. The hive benefits from painting on the outside, and new style has improved frame rest which allows space for the bees to pass underneath the frame lugs.

 Jumbo brood chamber, takes 14 x 12 BS frames and increase the brood area for larger colonies.
